Scoil Mhuire Junior School provides what we believe is a unique educational experience for girls aged four to twelve years. We follow the Irish Primary School National Curriculum but we also extend beyond it.  We seek to encourage and inspire our pupils, recognising they are the central participants in achieving academic excellence. We foster independent thinking and the courage required for self-expression.

Our smaller class size enables flexibility in learning and allows each girl to develop in a way that suits her strengths. We nurture the academic and social development of every student. We place a very special emphasis on:

  • Art

  • Speech and Drama

  • Science and Technology

  • Languages – Italian, French and Latin

  • Music and Irish Dancing

  • Physical Education, including Basketball, Swimming and Hockey

Through our religious education we teach our girls to behave in a morally responsible manner, inclusive and respectful of others.

The curriculum is further enhanced by project work on diverse topics at individual, group and class levels. We encourage the children to become environmentally aware and to accept their role and responsibility in sustaining the Earth and their environment.  We encourage outdoor activity as much as possible, teaching the girls to interact with nature and heightening their environmental and social awareness.

Scoil Mhuire Junior School graduates have automatic entry to the Senior School ensuring continuity and longevity of friendships. It is our experience that the girls from the Junior School are confident in their ability and easily make the transition to secondary school.  We nurture for life.

Resource/Learning Support – Early Intervention

If the teacher feels a child requires further assistance in maths or reading, pupils will have access to a Resource Learning Support Teacher.
